The wedding market in the United States is at an all time high with a current market value of over 25 billion dollars with a normal wedding no into five figures. However, it is possible to plan a cheap wedding if you cannot manage something that requires expensive stationery, photographers, caterers and dresses. All you need is few ideas to point you in the right direction and you can have a wedding to be proud of at a fraction of the cost.
Almost never considered but hardly ever for practical reasons are the costs associated with the wedding dress which is normally handmade but this doesn't have to be the case especially when you consider just how many brides sell their dress afterwards as they do not intend to wear it again. It is easy to buy a wedding dress that has only been worn once before for probably less than half the price and many stores are now opening up to supply wedding dresses this way, often just hiring them out.
As the wedding reception is normally the biggest expense and is where the cost of a wedding can get out of hand but one of the easiest to cut down on costs and as statistics show that an average of 189 guests attend a wedding, so when you are planning your cheap wedding remember this will be where the most savings take place. By reducing the number of people to attend the reception a great deal of money can be saved, especially if you decide to carry out some of the catering yourself and have a hot and cold buffet style meal instead of a four courses. Although it is nice to hold the wedding reception in a hotel or beautiful golf club, this too is another huge expense especially when there are many clubs that would be perfectly suitable or even the home of a good friend that is large enough.
Although many wedding photographers are hired for the whole day, there is nothing wrong with only having one take photos just at the wedding itself and then have wedding guests take them at the reception. Although you may not like the idea, there is no reason why you couldn't have all the wedding day photos taken by your guests and you will find yourself saving many hundreds of dollars.
Cutting down on costs can also mean creating your own wedding invitations, seating cards, and other wedding stationery at home on your PC and with the excellent printers available now, you can produce very professional looking results. This makes a great deal of sense and it will be a very personal gesture fusing a piece of equipment that is normally only used for games or surfing the internet.
Flowers can be another great expense, but also an unnecessary one so why not buy wholesale flowers, or pick flowers from your garden, a friends or relatives and buy plain gold or white gold wedding bands as these are the cheapest. Get a friend to make your wedding cake for you and opt for a smaller tier cake and it doesn't have to be a fruit cake, try a sponge, chocolate or carrot cake and make favors and center-pieces yourself, accessories for these can be found at little outlet stores or online. Of course you will need something to get to the ceremony in and there is no reason why a friend's car could not perform this task well so it is possible to plan a cheap wedding without necessarily cutting back on the services you want to provide and saving money for something else you need.
